Canelo Alvarez vs. Caleb Plant fight start time: Live stream, PPV price, how to watch, Showtime Boxing

The top pound-for-pound boxer on the planet returns to the ring on Saturday night, with Saul “Canelo” Alvarez looking to add yet another accomplishment to his already incredible resume. Alvarez will take on Caleb Plant in a four-belt super middleweight unification bout. The action goes down from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and airs live on Showtime pay-per-view.

Alvarez has ripped through the 168-pound division — all within the last 12 months. The Mexican superstar has three massive wins since December 2020 over Callum Smith by decision, Avni Yilidirim by easy stoppage in February and Billy Joe Saunders in May. If successful on Saturday, Alvarez has discussed moving back up to 175 pounds to challenge the champions there as well. Plant, meanwhile, has fought just once in the last 12 months when he picked up a decision win over Caleb Truax in January.

“I’ve faced many good fighters with skills that are similar to Caleb. It’s a style that I’ve seen before and I know what to do with it. That just gives me confidence in my experience heading into this fight,” Alvarez said at the final press conference. “I always train 100% my hardest and for the style of my opponent. I like that idea that Caleb is coming in believing he will win this fight. It’s going to make it more exciting for the fans.

Elsewhere on the card, former super middleweight champion Anthony Dirrell returns to take on Marcos Hernandez. Dirrell, 37, took home a draw in February against Kyrone Davis in his first fight since a TKO loss to David Benavidez in September 2019 where he lost his WBC title. Plus, Rey Vargas is back in his first fight in more than two years after suffering a broken leg in July 2019. And rising prospect Elvis Rodriguez is back to take on Juan Pablo Romero in a super lightweight contest.
