Gary Neville admits Liverpool’s recent form has forced him to change his stance after insisting the Reds have fallen.

Looking back on the day Liverpool won the League Cup in 2012

The Reds have been in fine form towards the end of the season and still have a good chance of winning every title in the coming months. They shortened the gap with Man City to 3 points after seemingly running out of opportunities in the Premier League. Last night Liverpool beat Chelsea to win the League Cup.

Former Manchester United defender Neville admits that Klopp’s side have forced him to abandon the perception that Liverpool are on the decline: “I thought Liverpool were falling. They were falling from a very, very high position. They were one of the best teams you see in the Premier League a few years ago when they won it.”

Liverpool won the League Cup after 10 years.

“What I was thinking was they’ve dropped in level, but now it looks like they’re coming back and they could have an incredible season this year . They can win the Premier League, they’re still there. Champions League.”

Liverpool have ended a 30-year wait to win the English top flight in 2020, just 12 months after Klopp led the Reds to Champions League glory. Their forward trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino produced stellar performances throughout the season.
