HOUSTON, Texas (November 24, 2021) – The University of South Florida volleyball team (7-23, 1-18 AAC) dropped a straight set match on Wednesday night to the Houston Cougars (25-6, 15-4 AAC) as the Bulls made their first stop on the final road trip of the season.

Houston claimed the match in three sets by scores of 25-23, 25-20 and 25-18.

Amiree Hendricks-Walker (Los Angeles, Calif.) paced the Bulls with 10 kills.

South Florida overcame a 17-14 deficit late in the opening set to eventually lead 20-19. Ally Barnhart (Lenexa, Kan.) and Ragan Kinard (Lynn Haven) combined on a block to tie the game at 19-19 before Marta Cvitkovic (Rijeka, Croatia) floored the go-ahead kill.

The teams continued to trade swings and a solo block by Barnhart helped USF regain a 22-21 edge. After the Cougars pulled back in front, Barnhart drilled a kill to knot the score at 23-all before Houston scored the final two points to claim the set.

In set two, it was Barnhart yet again who floored a kill to tie the game at 15-15, but the home team answered with a five-point run to establish a comfortable lead and went on to take a 2-0 match advantage.

An 8-1 run by the Cougars midway through the third set put the final game out of reach. The Bulls put up a fight late with four-unanswered points, but the deficit was too great to overcome.

CC Clausen led USF with 10 digs and now has 1,612 in her career. That mark stands as the second-most in program history behind Michelle Collier (1,747).
